Say Yes to Yeasayer
Among the most energetic and crowd-pleasing acts at this year’s Lollapalooza had to be the
Sunday performance of Yeasayer. The indie-pop band, that has been labeled ‘experimental’
at times, has founded a sound all their own. Part electronic dance, part tribal –percussion
folk rock... whatever you want to call it, their sound is a music festival favorite. The
musical trio performed at South by Southwest in 2007 and has since played at Austin City
Limits, Pitchfork, Cochella and Lollapolloza.
The Baltimore natives all attended a liberal high school together and reunited in Brooklyn
in 2005. They released their first album, All Hour Cymbals, in 2007 and their second
album, Odd Blood, in February of 2010. Their newest album has received a lot of attention
for it’s significant change in sound, exploring more pop influences and electronic beats
than their earlier work. The mix of styles produces an eclectic and energetic sound.
Yeasayer has toured with Grizzly Bear, Chairlift and MGMT. They will be touring
throughout the U.S. late September through October.
