Lollapalooza - The Temper Trap

Australian Indie-Rock Sensations You Need to Know About
One of the best shows of Lollapalooza 2010 had to be The Temper Trap. The Melbourne, Australia
natives played on a smaller stage on Sunday of the Chicago festival and was one of the most energetic
and intimate dance parties I have ever been to. Proving that while they are fun to listen to, they are
even more fun to experience live.
The Temper Trap released their debut album Conditions in 2009. And while their debut album topped
the charts in Australia and the UK, the group’s popularity is growing significantly here in the U.S. You
may have heard their single ‘Sweet Disposition’ on a Chrysler TV ad and most recently, featured in the
teaser trailer for the movie Eat Pray Love.
Before playing at Lollapalloza in 2010, the band established themselves as a festival alternative-rock
band staple when they played at the South by Southwest in March of 2009. This indi-rock sound is
upbeat and wishful. Amazing guitar and drum support along with lead singer, Dougy Mandagi’s unique
vocals, The Temper Trap sounds similar to Passion Pit or Phoenix. The quartet states U2, Radiohead,
and Prince as influences for their current album.
The Temper Trap is currently working on their second album to be released in late 2011.
