Sky Sailing

Synthpop superstar Adam Young (Owl City) turns to his early work.

Before there was Owl City, the one man synthpop project, there was another one man project called Sky Sailing. Adam Young is changing his alias once again, but for good reason. Though Sky Sailing may sound a lot like Owl City it is guitar driven rather than electronically driven. The 11 track album is called An Airplane Carried Me To Bed is a collection of recordings that Young had before Owl City that he had produced in his parents basement in Minnesota.

Young explains of his former moniker: "These recordings are a step into the past, the documented account of a shy boy from Minnesota with more hopes and dreams than he knew what to do with." This album to me is a great move musically for Young because in a way he steps to the side as if to let Owl City be its own identity because (to be honest) you can't follow up his debut album Ocean Eyes. However, under a new name he can begin to recreate himself... with an established fan base.
