Allison Iraheta
Fri, February 26, 2010 Allison Iraheta’s debut album Just Like You, is her first release after appearing on American Idol. She finished fourth behind Adam and Chris. Trivia… who was third? (Danny Gokey) Her debut album she’s put out is kinda like her run on American Idol. It’s inconsistent, full of potential, and her voice always comes through to save whatever she’s singing.
She was edgy and cool and had a little Avril in her if what Avril had in her was real. No, more like Haley from Paramore. I thought at the time she had a chance to have a big career.
She kinda comes off like a junior Kelly Clarkson. Themes of self-worth and vulnerability (Pieces, the irresistible Beat Me Up) pop up frequently, which is standard fare for Idol alum. But Iraheta's growling delivery takes many of these songs over the top and makes them better than they should be.
On one of the songs she says, "I'm strong, I'm a mess, all together, an emotional wreck". That kind of sums up this album.
