Word Lens
Thu, May 12, 2011 So anyway! She was featuring apps and one of them was an app called Word Lens. She popped her iPad open, fired up the app and pointed the camera lens at a TV screen behind her that had a message written in Spanish. She didn't really describe what was happening at first, so I sat there with a puzzled look on my face as my head tilted to the left. Thats when I noticed that the words on her iPad were different than the words on the screen behind her. The app had magically translated the words on the TV from Spanish to English! NO WAY!!!!
So I ran to my iPhone, opened the App Store and downloaded the free version. Ho hum... I should have known that you cant get something that cool for free. But the free version offers you "Word Reverse" so if you want to look at words or sentences backwards, then its pretty dang cool! I noticed there was a button that would allow me to get the language translator and once I pushed it realized that the full version of the app cost $9.99. Meh.
I bought it. I am glad that I did though. Now if I am anywhere Spanish is written, I can translate it at any time. Growing up in Texas, I should have paid more attention in Spanish class but I didn't. But now thanks to Word Lens, it all worked out in the end.
Here a few specs from the App Store about this app:
Buy language pairs with in-app purchase: - Spanish to English - English to Spanish
Try out the included modes first so you can see the technology in action: - Reverse Words (spell all words backwards) - Erase Words (digital white-out)
Word Lens gives you translation on the go: - NO NETWORK required - results appear immediately on your video screen when you need it, anywhere in the world. - Easy to use, like the regular camera - Look up translations by typing them in, too
