Path
Fri, January 28, 2011 This is the Path app. It is basically an app that allows you to take pics and video of life, tag the people in the pics with you or the location and share with your friends. Its not a new concept by any means but The New York Times calls Path "the more personal social network".
Capture your surroundings in the form of pic or video, share with 50 of your closest friends and family, tag with people, places and things and get feed back as well. You can also explore your friends moments on an interactive map.
While I think it is a cool app, its going to be hard for this one to cut through and make a big name for itself. You already have the ability to take pics and upload straight to Facebook or send directly to people in your contacts. Another down side to this app is the fact that you have to convince your friends and family to get the app as well and if they dont have an iPhone or iPod Touch, they cant participate. While I am piling on, once you have shared a photo or video with the people that have the app, there is no way for them to comment directly on the image or video. They have to send you a text.
However, it is a free app and if you can convince your friends and family to get the app, it might be worth the price that you arent paying for it.
The map is cool but then again, I am your average map loving geek.
All in all, I give this app 2 SnApps out of 5.
